About Hatha Yoga
In modern terms, Hatha yoga has become synonymous with a physical practice, often consisting of a series of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing methods).
Hatha yoga is typically practised more slowly and with longer static position stays. However, Hatha yoga is much more than just physical exercise.
Hatha yoga's ultimate purpose is to transcend identification with the body-mind-intellect complex and realise the nature of the true self.
How I teach yoga
My yoga courses typically include a variety of asana sequences as well as creative themes based on the season, chakras, relationships with yourself and the world around you, eastern philosophy, or opening/strengthening certain body zones. The sequences are designed to meet the needs of the practitioners.
Class begins with a brief meditation—a mental entrance to the classroom. Following that, the physical practice of asanas progresses from less to more intense. The class finishes with relaxation in Shavasana, followed by short pranayama and meditation practice.
The primary objective of these classes is to teach you to be present in the moment and reconnect with your physical, mental, and energetic bodies. As a delightful side benefit, you will develop physical strength while enhancing your mobility and flexibility.
